What is Popmoney?

Popmoney is a personal payment service that eliminates the hassles of paying others via checks or cash. You can send and receive money though SecureLink Online Banking or the SecureLink Mobile App. Popmoney allows you to send money to friends, family or anyone you choose.

What kind of payment accounts can I use with Popmoney?

You can use your checking, savings, and/or money market account. Your payments and Popmoney Service fees will be automatically debited from the account you select. After you enter your information, you can send or request money from your contacts. They will be notified by email or text message that you wish to send money or are requesting money from them. You and your contacts will never need to exchange financial account information.

What can I use Popmoney for?

Popmoney can be used for things like:

o Sending money to your child at college
o Paying back friends for a fun outing
o Paying your babysitter or lawn care service or Paying rent to your landlord or roommates

Is Popmoney available outside of the United Sates?

Currently Popmoney is only available for accounts residing within the United States.

Do payments sent to me expire?

You have 10 days form the date you receive the payment notification to provide your Power Financial Credit Union account information.

How can I send money to someone using Popmoney?

You can send money using a recipient’s:

•Email address: your contact will receive an email with instructions on how to direct the payment into his or her account

•Mobile number: a text message will be sent to the recipient with instructions on how to direct the payment into his or her account. If the recipient does not respond to the payment notification after 3 days, a reminder text message will be sent reminding him/her to act on the payment notification.

•Account information (routing and account number): money will be directly deposited into your contact’s account. You will also have the option to send the contact an email notification.

When will the recipient receive the funds?

The timing to receive the funds depends on the type of account used to make the payment. The delivery speed will be displayed when you schedule the payment. It could take additional time if your contact has not used Popmoney previously or will have to log in and accept the payment.

If you are sending the payment notification through email and your contact wants to collect the funds into his/her account; they must provide account information by 7 PM Eastern Time in order to receive the funds the next business day.

How will I know if someone sends me money using Popmoney?

If the sender sends you money using your email address or mobile phone number, you will receive an email or text message with instructions on how to deposit the payment into your account. If the sender uses your account information, the money will be deposited directly into your account. You will only receive a notification if the sender enters an optional message when submitting the payment.

How can I request money from someone using Popmoney?

You can request money from someone using their:

o name and email address: your contact will receive an email with instructions on how to pay the request

o name and mobile number: a text message will be sent to the recipient on your behalf with instructions on how to pay the request.

When will I receive the funds I request?

The person you requested money from has to sign up with Popmoney, if not registered already.

Once he/she has signed up successfully and pays against the request, you should receive the payment within three business days. The payment will be deposited into the account you selected when sending the request.

How can I deposit a payment to my account?

You can set up an automatic deposit into your account from the “preference” tab in SecureLink Online Banking or through your SecureLink Mobile App. If you do not want to utilize direct deposit you can select the account where you would like funds deposited with each transaction.

When will the funds be deducted from my account?

Funds will be debited from your Power Financial Credit Union account within 1 to 2 business days.

Can I cancel my payment?

Yes. You can cancel a payment any time before the send date or on the send date until the payment has begun processing. Your contact will be notified if you cancel a payment after a notification has been sent.

Is “Request Money” available within the Mobile Banking App?

No, this feature is currently only available within SecureLink Online Banking.

Does the Popmoney service have fees?

Popmoney service fees are dependent on the delivery speed selected. To learn more about the charges for delivery, go to the “External Transfer” page within SecureLink Online Banking, type in your recipient’s name, and the delivery speed. The delivery charge can be accessed in a detailed description via the information icon.
